I felt the time was right for finally addressing some of these reviews and ratings left for my apps. Some are understandable with the low rating since the Tree app has had trouble with the iPhone 4. What bothers me most is that some people just post statements that are totally inaccurate and outright ignorant. I’ll comment on each review below in bold.

by peeved maximus – Version 1.0 – 29 July 2010

total junk, it is leaf identification not tree identification

Can you really be this s….. ? I don’t want to say it, but really can you be? Did you know trees make oxygen? Please stop wasting it!! Enough said.

Trees – ★★

by inthefield – Version 1.0 – 23 July 2010

With only 190 species, this is not comprehensive.

Please excuse me for wasting a year of my life building an app with not enough species for you.

Not good – ★

by Butcher5895 – Version 1 – 11 August 2010

There are no animal pictures and app dosnt seem very useful

I’m surprised you even learned how to turn your phone on!! Learn how to use something before you leave a negative comment

Overpriced!!! Hard to use successfully!! – ★★★

by Wi-fi-less – Version 1 – 28 May 2010

Useful app but very overpriced for the features it has. Slide bar nearly impossible to operate. Can’t find range maps. Update drastically needed!!

Another tree needlessly supplying oxygen!! Here’s a hint… Take your finger and swipe the bar.

Very limited and overly priced – ★★

by tuesdaydentist – Version 1 – 14 February 2010

It’s fine, but way too expensive. This can’t be the best tracking app. It’s very limited with only the very basic animals. I wouldn’t pay more than .99 for it.

OK I have to point this out… supposedly your a dentist right? Your supposed to be fairly intelligent right? Then why would you make a statement like “I wouldn’t pay more than .99 for it.” You did, you paid $6.99 for it, not to bright are you!!

Need to add more species! – ★★

by ColoradoTracker – Version 1 – 16 December 2009

Nice layout in general, but just a start at this point. For a $4.99 app, I expected to see more than 43 animals covered (December 2009 count). I suggest they forget the “Animal Sounds” and focus on adding as many species for tracks as possible (the real focus of the app. I was very surprised to see little or no coverage of smaller animals (e.g. squirrels). This app has potential, but I sure hope the upgrades come quickly to make it worth the cost!

Please send me your address and I’ll mail you back your 5 bucks so you can buy a burger. I don’t think your worthy of owning my content.

I feel much better and I’ve wanted to do that for quite some time now. I would like to point out that between the two MyNature apps that are out we have a total of approximately 70, 4 to 5 star ratings and less than a dozen combined 1 and 2 star ratings. Those numbers speak for themselves as to the quality of our product. What I find unnerving is that a developer can spend a small fortune designing and programming an app to have a few people who don’t understand how to operate it or make false statements like the ones above and undermine my app sales and reputation. To the people mentioned above should you stumble upon this post and see your name please delete my app from your device, send me a self addressed, stamped envelope and I will more than gladly give you a refund except for you Mr. Dentist, you I’ll send .99 because that’s all you would pay.

I can finally say that the new build of the Tree Guide is complete and has been submitted to Apple earlier today. I’m fairly confident that they caught all the issues with the first version. The crashing issue with the iPhone 4 has been corrected.

I think this is Binary number 3 to fix the Tree crashing problem. I rejected it again today. I don’t know if my programmers read my blog so I better play nice. I do give them credit, they weren’t the ones that built this app. So here I am throwing them into the middle of someone else’s written codes that weren’t written correctly and they have to find the errors. The good news is they have said they fixed the iPhone 4 crashing problem. I have to take their word on that since I myself only use and test on the iTouch. Unfortunately in correcting some problems some things got shuffled around other places in the app, luckily I found them before I approved this version. Also since it’s been so long trying to fix this I need to have them set this new build up so people can save their Field Journal notes before they delete the app and install the new build. I know if I don’t have this available for users that I will get hell from a few people. I’d rather get back to the positive reviews than put another app with problems back out.

If you were wondering who built the current app with all the bugs that would be a business called A-1 Technologies out of NYC. I’m so glad they responded to my emails on the crashing issue….not…. they didn’t even have the courtesy to do that. They started off good but went downhill fast and weren’t the experts they built themselves up to be. I would never get involved with them for app development or anything else for that matter. So if you can please be patient just a little longer the Tree app fix it’s coming. I just want to make sure there are no problems this time.

After several days of testing and checking the new binary of the Tree App I suggested to the programmers that they needed to do another correction that I was having trouble with on my iTouch. They have checked the new build on the iPhone 4.0 for the repeated crashing issue and have told me that has been corrected. One of you was kind enough to write down how the steps to make the app crash using the iPhone 4.0 and they could not repeat that procedure with the new build…. definitely great news. I should have a new build to look over this Thursday and I think we will be good to go after that. I can’t wait!!!

Welcome! I’d like to take a moment to fill you in on what Art for Nature is all about. This idea was hatched by a few twitter friends and evolved into what I’m going to try and briefly explain here. Art for Nature looks for a little known artist in our Twitter Community and commissions that artist to produce a Nature themed piece. The finished piece is then donated to a Nature-based Not for Profit organization to auction off at their next fund raising event. The artists commission comes from the monies we can raise together in these tough economic times through our Twitter Community.

The benefits of this fund drive are many. First we help a struggling, undiscovered artist get their name and talent exposed to a large and varied community. Secondly, we supply a worthy Not for Profit an original artwork piece for their fund raising projects which lastly in turn they invest into the betterment of wildlife and the environment. Nature is here for all of us to enjoy but we need to give back along the way.

Today I received a new Binary to look over from my programmers. I’ll be checking it out all weekend for bugs and hopefully it is good to go on Monday for a resubmission to Apple. I have learned the Tree app does run quite differently on different devices. I rarely have had an issue with my iTouch however I understand the iPhone4 it repeatedly crashed. I do look forward to getting the issue straightened out as soon as possible. Once it is corrected 100% then I would love nothing better than to address some of the reviews that have been left. Thank you all (most of you) for your patience. Happy Hiking

Today I spoke with our new programmer and he has identified the problem with the Tree app crashing. It seems the original programmer left some open code within the app that did not allow some tree images to re-size. The size of the images used in succession were making the app crash. I was given a tentative date of this Tuesday that the problem should be fixed. Once corrected it has to go back through Apple for the verification and approval process which means an added 4 to 14 days until the new debugged version is out. I will continue to update you as things progress and I would like to assure you that I can not wait to get this issue solved.
